Your Logo: A Website's First Impression
#1
Your website's logo is like a handshake - it makes a lasting first impression. Here are the key ingredients for a logo that shines:
  • Simplicity is King: Keep it clean and clear. Complex designs get lost, especially on small screens.
  • Memorable Magic: Strive for a logo that's easily remembered. Think of the iconic swoosh or golden arches.
  • Uniquely You: Your logo should reflect your brand's personality. Don't be afraid to stand out from the crowd. Just keep in mind your colors and font. People need to be able to read it and see your design well. Test with tools for color blind guests as well, such as the free WAVE browser tool.
  • Timeless Appeal: Avoid trendy styles that will look dated in a few years. Aim for a classic and enduring design.
  • Versatility is Key: Your logo should work anywhere, from your website to your business card. Ensure it scales well and looks good in different formats.
By following these principles, you can craft a logo that becomes a recognizable symbol of your brand.

Watch for font when making your logo. It needs to be easy to read. Fancy font can be nice for written letters, fancy invitations, etc, but not for your website logo. Here's why choosing the right font and paying attention to spacing is important:

Watch your design as well. You can be creating something you don't intend:

Even major companies make blunders:

Great advice on logo creation.  I've seen a number of logo's that have the same issues as you've shared above.  The logo's that inspire me are logo's that make a simple brand statement by using geometric type art.  I also like logo's that incorporate a letter of the business too.

Those are some great points on the topic of logo creation! There are several logos in particular from this list I definitely wouldn't want to emulate if I were to create my own design... It always surprises me how many poor font choices or logo designs I see for companies, and as it may be the first impression of said company, it certainly sets the initial tone for my opinion of them.

It's my assumption that the intent was to portray a bow and arrow, perhaps with the symbolism that the shoe is like the bow, launching you, the arrow, forward. However, I can see how the logo and it's imagery can be misconstrued.
